Data Portal - holding page
A new AusCover Visualisation Portal is in development at present (access here). This activity is being conducted incoordination with other TERN facilities such as Coasts, ACEAS, Supersites and OzFlux. We plan to use technologies such as OpenLayers and GeoExt. AusCover will be looking at the raster side of visualisation but will also have a strong interest in site-data visualisation. OGC WMS and SOS services will be employed.
Previously AusCover deployed an instance of the IMOS portal for visualisation. This instance is still available from http://data.auscover.org.au/webportal (presently broken as a result of trying to rename things), however no further data sets will be added to it at this time. The decision not to proceed with the IMOS portal is not due to lack of functionality (its a good portal, it served us well in the early days) but rather to embrace new technologies and collaborations across TERN.
UPDATE: Some further work has progressed with the IMOS portal software, and a working site (but still in development) is available here.
In the meantime, while the new portal is being developed, users can still access WMS feeds for most AusCover data sets by going to the server where the data is hosted (generally THREDDS or Geoserver) and selecting the WMS feed. The WMS URL can then be pasted into most WMS viewers, such as Google Earth and others.
If you have any problems with accessing WMS feeds or comments on this process, please contact us.
